Amber Ruehe International Artist. Enjoying the world around us.

Amber Ruehe, born in Hollywood, Florida, is an international artist specializing in marine wildlife art with a contemporary impressionistic style.  Amber received numerous scholarships and awards for her artwork throughout high school and her undergraduate studies. Amber was accepted into two prestigious programs as well; the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and the fine arts program at Florida State University (FSU). Majoring in studio art at FSU, she honed her skills and began to realize her true passion for expressing herself through artwork.

Amber married the love of her life after graduating from FSU. Their journey began with Sean joining the U.S. Army. Their first duty location was the island of Oahu in Hawaii, and the sea life she encountered was more inspiring than she could have ever imagined. Her main focus became ocean art featuring sea turtle art and island life. While there, her work was displayed at the well-known Britton Gallery, The Growing Keiki shop, and she was commissioned to create a ceiling mural at the popular North Shore.

After leaving Hawaii, Amber and her husband decided to start a family and now have two beautiful young girls, Norah and Olive. In early 2014, Army life moved them to Germany and the beauty of Europe influenced her artwork once again in unexpected and interesting ways.

Amber’s family returned stateside when her husband accepted a job in Georgetown, Texas. She continued to pursue her art career and was displayed in Cianfrani Coffee shop and markets in the Georgetown area.  Three years later her husband’s promotion took them to the Southeast, which brought them closer to family. While living in Charleston, Amber’s work was displayed at popular area galleries like Art Mecca and Rustic Muffin, where her coastal art is still available. Much of her Charleston, SC art was inspired by the area’s pineapple fountains, lighthouses, historic buildings and precious marine life.

Amber decided to expand her art business further by holding popular painting parties and private lessons in client’s homes. After only 12 months Amber's husband received another promotion and they relocated to Houston, Texas.  The beauty of the area is once again inspiring Amber to express her love for wildlife and nature in general.

Amber has her marine wildlife art as well as other subjects in Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Spain and throughout the United States. Stay tuned for new collections as she is always creating something fun.
